It might not feel like spring right now, and don’t expect it to start anytime soon.

Melbourne has already recorded 89mm of rain this month, which is well above the November average of 60mm.

Melbourne's bayside suburbs bore the brunt of the ferocity, with an uprooted tree falling through the roof of an apartment in Tramway Parade, Beaumaris around 3am. Residents were evacuated, but nobody was injured.

The south-eastern suburbs were drenched with 35mm and more than 12 hours of steady rain – and Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Rod Dickson says it’s set to continue.

While the SES is urging drivers to keep an eye out for trees and flooding on run in and drive safely.
