While we had our eyes on the race that stops the nation, fashion judges had theirs all over the Spring Racing Carnival fashionistas!
Among the glam was Townsville's Arriell Scuderi who will be bringing a much deserved sash home in her luggage.
The 27-year-old posted on Insta about how stoked she was to be crowned second runner up on Oaks Day.
"Not bad for an outfit Mum whipped up last weekend and a homemade hat spray painted in the back yard," Arriell posted.
The pineapple inspired piece was homemade by Arriell's mother Rae in Ingham just days before the event.
Arriell added her own flair to the headpiece, not being afraid to shake some spray paint over the originally brown hat.
A tan leather strap and white ribbon completed the look.
Earlier in the week Arriell stepped out in purple to kick off the week of fashion fun.
In July Arriell took home the Style Queen title at the Mater Townsville Cup at the Townsville Turf Club.
