Not many can really argue against Billboard naming Ariana Grande as their ‘Woman Of The Year’ this week.
In 2018, Ariana Grande released her fourth studio album, Sweetener, featuring hit singles 'No Tears Left to Cry’, ‘God Is a Woman’ and ‘Breathin’’, before releasing the instant phenomenon ‘Thank U, Next’.
It’s been a rollercoast of a year for the pop-star who experienced an engagement, breakup and the death of longterm ex-boyfriend Mac Miller all in a very short space of time.
In a new interview with Billboard, Ari discusses the highs and lows of her career and personal life, with journalist Natalie Weiner writing “it’s clear” a song about Mac Miller is expected to be included in her next album.
“When we made ‘The Way,’ I was like, ‘Oh, wow, I’m onto something here,’” says Grande. Her face dims slightly; just before this interview, she was working on a new song, which, when she plays it for me later, I realize is about Miller. “It felt like, ‘I should do this forever.’”
Ariana also talked about how her approach to life and her career has changed following everything she's been through.
“When life tries you with such serious shit so many times, your priorities change. I don’t give a sh*t. I just want to be happy and healthy -- one day -- and make music.”
Well said Ari!
